Ramani is a first-generation graduate who earned a B. A. in Journalism from Madras Christian College, Chennai, and an LL.B from the Faculty of Law, Delhi University. They identify themself as a gender-fluid person and goes by She/They/He.

As a Research and Communications Associate, they curated and managed social media content and led a digital campaign on the ASHA Workers titled #ASHAkiAwaaz. They were also involved in other projects, including the Anti-caste Jurisprudence Project, which focuses on the interpretation and implementation of the Prevention of Atrocities Act by the higher judiciary. Before joining CJLS, Ramani worked with several media organisations in varied roles as a journalist, student reporter, and intern. Their primary areas of interest include anti-discrimination and marginalisation, critical legal theory, and environmentalism, among others.

After CJLS, they worked as a Research Associate at CPA Project, Bhopal. They are currently working as an independent researcher.
