Criminal Justice System and the Transgender and Gender Variant People’s Clinic (2014-15)

This year long clinical course focused on law and violence in the context of transgender women and Hijra persons in Delhi.

A collaborative endeavour with the HIV/AIDS Alliance and Mitra Trust, the course gave students an opportunity to engage with members of the community for an empirical study to document queer experiences of violence. The findings of this study were documented in a research publication authored by Dipika Jain, Abhina Asher, Simran Shaikh, Amina Sarkar, and Brian Tronic titled “Negotiating Violence: Everyday Queer Experiences of the Law.”
